Safeguarding Policy

Terms: 

  • ‘we’ and ‘our’ refers to Footbellas Ltd

  • ‘parents’ refers to parents and carers inclusively

  • ‘child’ and ‘young person’ refers to any person under the age of 18 years

Footbellas Ltd acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of every child and young person and is committed to providing a safe environment. We are committed to ensuring its safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and guidance issued by Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) and The Football Association (FA).

We endorse and adopt the following safeguarding principles:

  • a child’s welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration; 

  • children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their; age, sex or sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, ability or disability, socio-economic-background

  • children must always be valued, listened to and respected

  • all suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and 

  • appropriately

  • We;

    • recruit and select staff and coaches safely, ensuring all necessary checks are made. This includes the requirement for coaches to hold a current DBS Enhanced certificate and to consent to Footbellas Ltd running regular status checks on their certificate

    • ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children

    • provide effective management for staff and coaches through supervision, support, and training so that all staff and coaches know about our policies, procedures and behaviour codes and follow them confidently and competently

    • have a nominated safeguarding lead for children and a deputy safeguarding lead for children

    • adopt safeguarding best practices through our policies, procedures and code of conduct for staff and coaches

    • ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are maintained and are in operation

    • ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of all incidents or concerns, both lower-level and concerns of abuse, and support provided to all the individual(s) who raise or disclose the concern

    • ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored

    • record and store information securely, in line with data protection legislation and guidance

This policy and our procedures are widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in Footbellas Ltd. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal or exclusion from Footbellas Ltd.

This policy is reviewed annually, or in the following circumstances:

  • changes in legislation and/or government guidance

  • guidance given by the Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) and/or The Football Association (FA)

  • as a result of any other significant change or event
